Breast prosthesis explantation is the definitive removal of the implants. This procedure seeks to achieve an aesthetically attractive and natural breast. For this, glandular remodeling and fat filling is used, which helps us to achieve this goal. What was once an uncommon surgery, has now become a fairly common intervention.
Some women choose to remove the implants after having suffered complications that, in many cases, have required several interventions. Others do so because of a poor aesthetic result, such as prostheses that are too large, disproportionate or with an artificial appearance. It is also common that, over time, the patient’s tastes or aesthetic perception change, or that a psychological rejection of the implants arises, which leads them to decide to have them explanted.
Excessively large breast implants can cause atrophy of the mammary gland and excessive stretching of the skin over time. Therefore, in some cases, explantation is combined with other procedures such as fat filling or a breast lift (mastopexy) to achieve a well-positioned and proportionate breast.

Breast explantation is a procedure that allows the removal of implants, preserving the aesthetics and harmony of the breast through advanced remodeling techniques.
We perform capsulectomy, or removal of the periprosthetic capsule, when the capsule is in an unfavorable condition, such as contracture, thickening or inflammation. If the periprosthetic capsule has a normal appearance, its removal would not be strictly necessary.
Yes, explantation of breast prostheses does not exclude the possibility of reconsidering the placement of new implants in the future.
